University of Tulsa

CIMBA is a great opportunity for University of Tulsa students who are interested in taking business, engineering and more while in Italy.

Study Abroad Requirements:

The University of Tulsa Center for Global Engagement requires all students participating in study abroad to have:

  • Completed at least one academic year as a full-time TU student
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 at time of application and demonstrate that they are making satisfactory academic progress towards their degree
  • No disciplinary probation status

Exceptions may be made to these requirements. For more information, speak with an Education Abroad Coordinator at the Center for Global Engagement.

The Application Process:

  1. Talk to your Faculty Advisor and College Advisor about your plans and discuss which type of courses you should take abroad.
  2. Look at the database of pre-approved courses for CIMBA to help narrow down coursework needed.
  3. Apply to CIMBA online at global.utulsa.edu. Search for CIMBA and click at “Apply Now”. Complete the online application and requirements. Online application and supplemental documents must be submitted by posted deadline. This includes the Course Approval Form (CAF) that needs to be signed by your Student Success Coach. If your desired courses are not already approved on the database, please let a CIMBA Program Coordinator know so that we can work with Tulsa’s Center for Global Engagement on getting the course approved.
  4. After you have started the TU online application, you will also complete the CIMBA online application. If you need information on how to submit your TU official transcript, please follow the direction on your Registrar page.
  5. Apply for a new passport OR renew your expired or soon-to-be expired passport. Italy requires that your passport be valid at least six (6) months beyond the dates of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.

Visa Information:

Due to the program length, US and EU citizens are not required to obtain a visa to study abroad with CIMBA. TU international students with other citizenship may need to obtain an Italian study visa for any CIMBA programs.

Course Equivalencies & Transcripts:

CIMBA coursework can transfer back to TU as full credit and will be calculated into the overall GPA. Courses will only be accepted for students who were approved to study abroad. TU cannot transfer credit unless the student completes an academic approval form with their Student Success Coach and passes each individual courses. Most CIMBA courses have been pre-approved for course equivalencies.  To determine which courses will transfer, students should consult with their Student Success Coach.

Payment & Financial Aid Information:

TU charges a one-time study abroad fee that is separate from the CIMBA tuition costs. This fee is $200 and should be paid directly to CGE at the time of application submission.  This fee is non-refundable unless the student’s application is denied by CGE. The study abroad fee is an administrative fee to cover services provided by CGE.

CIMBA charges a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $40 paid at the time of submitting the CIMBA application.

Students pay their regular TU tuition for the semester abroad and pay housing and meals directly to CIMBA. Students should be aware there will be additional out of pocket expenses incurred on top of the aforementioned fees. For questions regarding payment financial aid, please contact CGE.
