Open Your Eyes to a World of Possibilities in our Semester Study Abroad Program

The CIMBA semester program offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the small Italian community of Paderno del Grappa for 12 weeks while completing between 12 and 18 credit hours. While you’re here, you’ll have ample time to explore Italian culture, build your leadership skills, and travel. We offer both fall and spring sessions and we strive to offer a variety of core and elective courses that meet requirements at your home institution so you can stay on track to graduate. All of our courses are taught in English.

We offer engaging courses accredited by the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business.

Nearly all of our course credits will successfully transfer back to your home institution. In many cases, you can take the same course at CIMBA that you had planned to take at your home institution. Some students also structure their academic program at CIMBA so they can earn a business minor in one semester. Check out our course offerings.

Our curriculum is uniquely infused with leadership and personal development.

During CIMBA’s semester program, you can participate in personal and leadership development training that is similar to what many Fortune 500 companies give their executives. Students begin their semester program with CAP (CIMBA Advantage Program) activities that include survival Italian, a low ropes course, and an orientation to our academic and leadership programs. Through highly comprehensive and personalized coaching, intense leadership trainings such as LIFE and LEAP, and problem solving and decision making (Kepner-Tregoe), you can leave CIMBA not only with a renewed vision of your future, but also with three professional certificates and three leadership credit hours.

You’ll be immersed in the daily life of an Italian village.

Whether it’s eating dinner with Istituti Filippin students and their families, playing soccer with local students, taking our Italy Live course, or traveling throughout Italy there are many opportunities to learn about daily life in one of the world’s most beautiful countries. Check out more about our cultural exploration program and CIMBA’s picturesque location.

We welcome students from all majors and universities.

While much of our curriculum follows a standard business track, you do not have to be a business student or from a consortium school to enroll in CIMBA. We also attract students from around the world to study communications, political science, journalism, liberal arts and more.

You’ll have great travel opportunities throughout Italy and beyond.

One of the great advantages to studying at CIMBA is the amazing amount of travel time available. Semester students have over 25 days of independent travel to explore Italy and Europe. CIMBA offers an easy gateway to travel Italy and Europe. Students regularly explore a variety of Italian cities and travel to four countries or more. First time traveling? No problem! Our staff will help you plan before you leave, and once you arrive, we will teach you how to plan trips across Europe.
