Understand the Details

Studying abroad is truly an investment in your future. The CIMBA Italy study abroad program is an all-inclusive fee with no hidden costs.

  • Tuition (12-18 credit hours semester, 6 credit hours summer)
  • Double occupancy room in an on-campus residence hall
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner in the campus cafeteria
  • Textbook rental
  • Housecleaning, linens and towels (changed weekly), laundry tokens
  • CISI international travel and medical insurance (includes health and emergency evacuation)
  • Bus transfers at program program start and end (dependent on flight arrival time)
  • Gourmet Italian dinners (Semester: 2 meals, Summer: 1 meal)
  • Cultural exploration activities (excludes independent travel)
  • Leadership Institute certificates and programming (semester only)
  • Airfare
  • Independent travel in Europe
  • Personal expenses
  • Passport fee
  • Study abroad fee charged by your home institution, if applicable
  • Small incidentals (i.e. visiting campus nurse for band aids, medication, etc.)

  • $40 non-refundable University of Iowa fee at time of application (for non-University of Iowa students only)

For many students attending private or out-of-state universities, a CIMBA Italy semester abroad actually ends up being more affordable than a regular semester. The costs are:

Compared to Regular Semester Averages

The CIMBA Italy semester cost is just slightly higher than the in-state semester average. However, the CIMBA Italy semester program is a life-changing, 12-week study abroad experience in Italy. Additionally, many students receive financial aid and/or scholarships to further offset the cost of study abroad. Federal financial aid and home university scholarships can often be used toward this cost. Plus, CIMBA Italy offers several scholarships and awards that can be used in addition to financial aid.
