Paris

This past week at CIMBA we had our week-long break. My friends and I decided we wanted to have a relaxing week, where we didn’t have to do a lot of walking around and sightseeing. We went to Paris, Madrid, Ibiza, and Barcelona. The only place we did any sightseeing was Paris, and I am so glad we did.

Ever since I knew what the Eiffel Tower was, I have wanted to go to Paris. I remember when we booked our plane tickets, long ago, I thought of it as a dream come true. We decided that the first time we wanted to see it was at night because we knew it would be lit up. When we came out of the metro, we could only see the very top, but my friends and I got so excited that we started running towards it. I kept saying “I can’t believe this is real!” As we got closer and closer to the Eiffel Tower it got bigger and bigger. I had no clue it was going to be that big. In awe, we walked around the outskirts and underneath the tower for a long time. After awhile, we decided we were hungry and went to a crepe shop across the street. Some of us got a savory crepe and some got a sweet crepe. I ordered a ham and cheese crepe, and it was so good! It was warm and gooey and was better than any crepe I have ever had before. I also tried one of the fruit and Nutella crepes, which were unbelievable as well. After awhile we decided that we were going to head back home and right when we crossed back over the street to the Eiffel Tower the clock struck midnight and the tower started flashing lights, as if it were dancing. None of us knew that the Eiffel Tower lit up like that at midnight. We were all shocked and so excited at how cool the tower really was. It was quite the experience, and if you ever go to Paris, you must see the Eiffel Tower at night!

The next day we went back to the tower while the sun was out. It was still really cool, but seeing at night is incomparable. After taking turns taking photos in front of it, we decided we wanted to climb to the top. We knew it was going to be hard, but we also knew it was going to be worth it. For the first two-thirds of the tower, you have to climb the stairs. Once you are up to that point, you take an elevator to the top. The elevator ride was a lot longer than I expected. It was probably only about a minute or two, but it seemed like 5 or 6 minutes. We thought it was going to be claustrophobic and scary up there, but there was actually a lot more room than we had expected and there is a cage-like screen around the outside, so it wasn’t scary at all! The view from the top of the Eiffel Tower was unbelievable. It was so cool to see the city of Paris from that view. Every stair we climbed was worth it. I never wanted to walk back down! After we were done we got more crepes, of course! They were just as good as the ones we had the night before. I miss the crepes already, if only I knew how to make them as good as they do in Paris.

We also went to the love-lock bridge while we were in Paris. I have always wanted to go here because I have heard of so many people going there and putting their own locks on the bridge. It was something I had always wanted to do. Some of my friends put locks of them and their friends back home on it and some put their families on it, which is what I did. The bridge was really cool and there were so many people putting locks on it as well. I am glad to say that a part of me will always be in Paris!

Although we were only there for two days, it was a really good time. We saw a lot of Paris in those two days. We also saw The Notre Dame and we hung out on a grassy area outside The Louvre for awhile, which has the Mona Lisa inside. Paris was a magical place for me and if I ever get the chance to go back there again I will definitely go.

Ciao for now and thanks for reading! Please keep checking back for my next blog!
