Venice: a good time to sleep?

Written by Jennifer September 16, 2014

I have finally arrived to this beautiful campus! After some long plane rides I’ve made it. Unfortunately I have been fighting to stay awake with the six hour difference. I took British Airways from Philadelphia to London and London to Venice. (Well technically Finnair for the first flight- owned by BA). I had a really great experience. I would recommend the airline for future travelers.  The woman who checked me in, got me from a middle seat to a window with an empty middle! I cannot explain how gracious I am for that.

While at my transfer in London I discovered this urge to respond back to the airport workers in British accents. For a disclosure, I’m terrible with accents. I did it once but I quickly fell back to my regular speech just in case they thought I was mocking them…which bad accents tend to suggest- sorry.

Traveling wasn’t half as daunting as I originally anticipated. This was actually my first trip overseas. The only time I really needed a passport. Cannot complain.

The bus ride to campus was everything you’d expect from Italy, except not as many moped as I’d hoped for.

Ride to Campus

The campus is very walkable which is great. Laundry in one building, gym in the other, and all the classrooms, dorms, and cafeteria are in the same complex. Not that a lack of distance is what I should be looking for with all of the food I’ll be eating.

I just finished the first day of classes. Learning some Italian, slowly but surely. Apparently I will be learning about mindfulness in the Topics in Management Life program. Do you know what this means? Also, what will I be doing exactly? …I’ll fill you in.

Oh and of course, how could I forget, my first authentic Italian pizza, gelato, and wine.

It’s been a pretty great start!

Arrivederci,
