The hidden treasures of CIMBA

Everyone is thinking about where to travel on their study abroad trip, preparing to see amazing things. But don’t feel like you have to have it all planned out before you head to Italy. You may find that your plans will change once you arrive on campus and find that CIMBA has tons to offer.

In the first week of classes there were many local trips offered. I personally took the trip to Passagno, a nearby town, and saw an amazing church that was created in the image of the Parthenon. Also, one of the most influential Italian artist has a museum there too. Some local high school students gave us a history lesson on the architect of the church and of the famous Italian artist. It was great and I learned a ton.

Another cool aspect of the first week was all the advice received from the professors on local restaurants and stores to visit. Who has the best gelato, who has the best pizza, and who has the most amazing pastries! I have found that all the food here is excellent and you will not be disappointed. And don’t be afraid to try new things!

The professors are amazing and help students get accustom to changing environments. They give you advice on how to combat jet lag and adjust to the new time zone, assist with scheduling events around class times, and are patient when students make mistakes. One of the professors took a small group of students hiking up to the WWI memorial on top of mount Grappa. I was lucky enough to be one of those students. It was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced, the mountains are spectacular, and it is something I will never forget!

Ciao!
