Adventure Awaits

The current state of my room and I leave tomorrow.

I'm missing Lucy already.

Ciao!

Computer, notebooks, pants, shorts, that shirt, this shirt… my packing list rambles on. Where do I begin? My name is Elizabeth and I just finished my freshman year at the University of Iowa. I am majoring in biomedical engineering and have loved my classes thus far. I am on the cross country and track and field teams at the university as well. I love to run and learn, and this year I have also discovered my love of Calculus, but that’s another story.

Around the corner – the very near corner, I might add – I will be heading to Italy! I simply can’t believe that I will actually be in Italy. It is hard to grasp this concept and it seems unreal. I just finished my last final yesterday, packed my stuff up, and came home with all of it in tow. I haven’t had much time to think about my trip with all of my studying; but tomorrow, I must pack up for this journey amongst the chaos in my room from all of my belongings and say goodbye to my family and my furry friend.

I am so excited to continue my education abroad through the CIMBA program and learn even more in my classes and of the Italian culture and language. I can’t wait to arrive and immerse myself in Italy. I keep thinking about the various places I want to visit and I try to imagine what it will be like, but quite honestly, it is hard to do so. I have never been out of the country, and have only been out of the Midwest a few times, so I can’t wait to explore Italy and gain a better perspective of the world.

I desire to visit Rome, Florence, Vienna, Venice, Cinque Terre, and much more. I want to hike up Mount Grappa, eat gelato, enjoy pastries, and revel in the beauty around me.

This whole year seemed to fly by, so I know these next four weeks will feel even faster in Italy. I plan to take advantage of my time there and soak up as much as I can of the architecture, art, language, culture, geography, food, and much more while abroad. Now, hopefully I don’t forget to pack anything too important.

Currently packing,

Elizabeth
