Land of Spaghetti and Meatballs

Hello from Paderno del Grappa, Italy! It is still unreal to me that as I write this I am in Italy, home of my favorite foods and beautiful cities. My name is Carly and I am from Naples, FL a long way away from Italy. I currently am a Junior Communications major from Furman University. I’ve only been in Paderno for four short days, but I can already tell it is going to be one unforgettable semester.

I’ve never had the best of luck when it comes to traveling by plane, but thankfully this past weekend I arrived safely and on time to the CIMBA Campus in Paderno del Grappa. Upon arrival to campus, I couldn’t help but notice how small of a town Paderno del Grappa truly is. This made me rather nervous and naturally, I worried I should have chosen a study abroad in a larger city. However, after only a few days on campus, I have come to realize the beauty of this small town. As a first stepped into my dorm, I went to open the windows to cool down and was overwhelmed by the absolutely picturesque view I had! My window overlooks Mount Grappa and the surrounding green, mountainous, Italian landscape. It looks like a scene you would come across in a movie, but I am fortunate enough to be spending the next 3 months taking it all in.

Amazing view from my window!

These past few days have been a whirlwind of events. Between starting classes and attending orientation events, I’m still trying to adjust to the six hour time change. Thankfully, it’s almost the weekend and we can rest up for our first full week of classes and activities! This weekend, I plan on hiking to the top of Mount Grappa with a group of other students. It’s supposedly an 8 hour journey, so I will be sure to inform you of whether or not we make it to the top. I plan on taking tons of photos on the hike, so I will have those to share with you as well!
Until next time, ciao!
