CIMBA’s Outreach Ambassadors Program

Calling all CIMBA alums…!

As a valued member of our CIMBA fam, we would like to invite you to embark on an exciting journey by becoming an outreach ambassador for our program. This is a great opportunity for you to give back and make a meaningful impact for future CIMBA students. Outreach Ambassadors have the opportunity to stay connected with an organization they are passionate about (that’s us!), contribute to its success, and further their own personal and professional development.

What is the Outreach Ambassadors Program?

Our outreach ambassador program engages with CIMBA alumni and supporters to represent and promote our study abroad programs at their home university. Outreach Ambassadors act as advocates, sharing their positive experiences, knowledge, and passion with others to create awareness about the study abroad opportunities with CIMBA. Your unique experiences and perspective will no doubt enrich the lives of future Cimbians and help pave the way for their success.

The responsibilities of outreach ambassadors within our program vary depending our goals and what alums are interested in doing. The time commitment can be as little as a few hours, a semester, or a lifetime!

Common Ambassador Roles and Activities

  1. Mentoring and Guidance: You can provide guidance, mentorship, and support to current students, newcomers, or individuals interested in CIMBA. You will often share your insights, experiences, and expertise to help others succeed.

  2. Promotion and Outreach: You will actively promote studying abroad to your networks, both online and offline. You serve as brand ambassadors, creating awareness and generating interest among your connections.

  3. Content Creation and Sharing: If you are more creative, you can create and share relevant content such as blog posts, social media updates, videos, or testimonials that highlight your experiences and the organization’s impact. This content helps attract attention, engage audiences, and drive interest in the organization.

  4. Event Participation and Representation: You may attend and help out at some events such as study abroad fairs or info sessions on campus. You may be asked to speak on an alumni panel or participate in activities held by CIMBA. Some outreach ambassadors take it a step further and plan outreach events themselves!

How Does It Work?

Email the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications (sharon-ho@uiowa.edu) to introduce yourself. In your email, include your full name, personal email, major, term of study abroad, and home university. If there are projects that you yourself would like to start, show initiative and include that in the email! The Assistant Director will follow-up with more information regarding events, activities, and outreach opportunities.

Alumni who become outreach ambassadors for our program will receive some CIMBA swag during their role as ambassador.
