Build Your Knowledge of Management Topics

The Executive Certificate in International Management and Strategy is designed for working professionals and provides you with a broad, general management education, taught from a strategic planning perspective. The program teaches aspiring managers and young entrepreneurs the practical business tools and interpersonal skills required to advance to higher levels of responsibility within their companies, or to create and develop their own businesses.

Structure

The certificate program lasts for nine weekends, one per month from October to June and includes one full week at the end of the program. The program begins with Team Building and Kepner-Tregoe Problem Solving and Decision Making seminars. The final week of the program is spent in the United States at the University of Iowa where you will complete a one-week intensive course and participate in a company tour. Upon successful completion of the program, you will earn a certificate of accomplishment at a formal University of Iowa graduation ceremony.

Admissions

In selecting participants for admission, CIMBA considers a variety of factors including:

  • Motivation
  • Personal Maturity
  • Integrity
  • Leadership Characteristics
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Inclination toward personal and professional risk taking
  • The ability to relate to others
  • Strong spirit of adventure

An undergraduate education is NOT required for admission. Students must have a good working knowledge of the English language as all courses are taught in English. Participants with work experience generally benefit more from the program; however, a percentage of the class is reserved for applicants with less work experience. In evaluating candidates for many of these characteristics, CIMBA conducts personal interviews.

Program Costs

The tuition cost for the Executive Certificate in International Management and Strategy is 5,500 Euros + VAT. Additional costs for the final week at the University of Iowa are not included in this price. Extras, including, but not limited to, airfare, lodging, and meals, are estimated to be around $2,000 USD.

Method of Instruction

Consistent with educational philosophy, CIMBA provides instructional methods that best encourage the open and free communication of ideas and information between professors and students. In an ideal learning environment, students will learn as much from one another as from the instructors about the managerial challenges confronting them. In contrast to more traditional university learning environments, CIMBA professors will use the classroom as an action workshop in which new ideas can be considered and tested on students who come from a diverse range of firms, industries, and experiences.

Both qualitative and quantitative tools of analysis are used to provide you with the practical background necessary to diagnose business problems under varying circumstances and conditions. A strong emphasis on practical tools and applications requires a combination of individual, group, and classroom instructional methods. In classes where business cases are considered the most productive instructional tool, students prepare case solutions either individually or with groups. Professors focus on directing the class discussions and analysis of those cases.

Student Progress Assessment

Throughout the program, your progress will be continually assessed to ensure you are making adequate progress toward meeting the program’s established standard of performance. Within each course, your performance assessment is based not only on individual examinations, but also your participation in classroom discussions and team projects.
