Full-time MBA Curriculum

_DSC5091The CIMBA Full-time MBA curriculum focuses on the practice of business management and includes a foundation of core courses in key functional areas of business. The MBA program not only prepares you with technical business skills but also includes leadership development seminars, team building activities, and one-on-one coaching. You will also have extensive interaction with CIMBA’s unique leadership technology system.

You will also complete a consulting project which allows you to apply what you are learning in your courses and the leadership development program to a real issue. Half of your courses will be taken with the part-time MBA students on the weekends. During the week, you will complete the other courses and engage in the leadership development program through seminars and coaching. Most of the courses meet for four full days and require both pre- and post-work. In your final month in Italy, you will take courses with summer graduate study abroad students.

The final course of the program is an integrative strategy course and is completed during a four week session at the University of Iowa. This course uses an online business simulation in which you compete in teams to become the highest-performing company. In total, you will complete 20 required courses (58 credit hours).

The course work includes the following classes and is part of the knowledge pillar of the educational philosophy. More information about the offerings can be found on the course offerings page.

This workshop provides an innovative, learning-by-doing approach to teaching Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) concepts with the intent of giving an overall idea of how companies operate. Using a continuous-time simulation, you will run your business with a real-life ERP system (SAP). Teams of four students are tasked with operating a company and must interact with suppliers and customers by sending and receiving orders, delivering products, and completing the whole cash-to-cash cycle. Using standard and customized reports in SAP, you will make business decisions and ensure the profitability of your operations.

Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a quality improvement philosophy and methodology that has been used successfully in improving the operations of organizations worldwide. CIMBA has embraced Six Sigma in an effort to both provide students with an experiential learning opportunity focusing on business process and problem solving and to provide our client companies with a unique opportunity to understand and evaluate the Six Sigma methodology.

The Six Sigma workshop is a measurement-based management strategy that uses tools and techniques from a total quality management perspective. It focuses on quality initiatives for analyzing the root cause of a business process problem (whether in production, marketing, sales, design, etc.) and then analyzing and improving the process. The Six Sigma workshop meets during the week, is four days in length, and also provides an opportunity to network with executive program students who choose Six Sigma as a short course.
